JUDGES will sift through the entries for the Open 4 Business Excellence Awards today.
Some 55 entries have been lodged for the Weymouth Football Club sponsored awards.
There are six awards up for grabs in the Oscars' of the south and west Dorset world as well as the overall Business of the Year title.
Judges are also set to choose a Flame' award for the individual who has made a significant impact on the business community.
Project working group members counted entries for the awards before passing them on to be judged today.
The group included economic development officers Gareth Jones from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and Bob Moore from West Dorset District Council.
Mr Jones said: "Many businesses entered popular categories of Small Business of the Year and Excelling in Customer Service.
"But this year we also had a record number of entries in the Innovation in Business section, which is very encouraging for the business community as we head towards the opportunities ahead in 2012."
