FOOTBALLERS pitched in to raise money for charity by posing for calendar pictures in a Dorchester store.

Players from Dorchester Town FC joined the team at Goulds for a fun photoshoot organised by Peggy Walder, manager of the store's Café 11.

The pictures will form a calendar that will go on sale to raise funds for Julia's House children's hospice and the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

The Magpies' old adversary - Weymouth FC - are also appearing in a second calendar. They will be photographed at Goulds Garden Centre in Weymouth next month.

Mrs Walder said: "I had this idea to get the players in to pose for pictures and thought we'd have two calendars - they can carry on their friendly rivalry that way. It's all a bit of fun.

"I hope the calendars will raise £750 for each charity."

She said the photos would show the players helping staff around Goulds fashion and department stores, both in South Street.

She added: "It's great that the teams want to help. All the pictures will be tastefully done - no shirts but they keep their shorts on!"

The calendars will be on sale at Goulds and at the football grounds.

The calendars will be available by the end of October, priced £5.99, with all the proceeds going to the charities.

Mrs Walder said the printers Henry Ling's Publishing and Advantage Digital Print as well as photographers and designers have offered to give their services for free.
