I agree that the current site of the Weymouth fire station is not appropriate for the needs of the service.
However, I cannot see the justification for building a new station to include meeting rooms.
I suggest the current site is sold and some of the proceeds used to build a couple of large garages for the fire engines and a couple of offices/rooms on the police site at the Granby.
There must be some space to spare and it's an ideal location with good transport links.
If meeting rooms are required there must be some available to share at the police building.
The remaining proceeds of sale should be used to fund the service and the precept on the council tax can be greatly reduced.
