HONEY Bear is off to Julia’s House to cheer up children after raising £230 for the charity with a raffle in Dorchester.
The raffle was organised by Peggy Walder, manager of Café 11 in Gould’s, after a customer donated the bear.
Mrs Walder said the bear with a honeycomb body with a bee on it made an appropriate link to a little girl called Honey, who attends Julia’s House and whose grandparents Joyce and Len Wilkes are regular customers.
Mrs Walder had already organised the production and sale of calendars featuring Dorchester and Weymouth footballers in aid of the Dorset charity.
She said: “I’m so pleased at how it went and that Honey and her parents could come along to receive the cheque on behalf of Julia’s House. And I’m also delighted that the eventual winner donated the honey bear to Julia’s House for all the children there to play with.”
