Tolpuddle

  • FATHER Christmas made his arrival in dramatic style in a digger at the Tolpuddle Christmas coffee morning recently.

Despite the steady drizzle, his arrival was eagerly awaited by a crowd of children and adults gathered outside the village hall.

Marion Bishop tells me that a total of £573.67 was made at the coffee morning It was slightly down on numbers through the door this year, Marion added, but this left comfortable room for everyone to enjoy coffee and mince pies and chat to friends Thankyou to all the helpers and everyone who supported the event.

A special thank you goes to Father Christmas for taking time out of his busy schedule to come along.

He was magnificent, especially his arrival!

  • JOHN England is doing some research about the village water supply before the mains arrived in 1956.

Some of the village’s more senior residents can remember drawing water from wells with a bucket, relied on pumped supply from boreholes and can even name one person who would be let down into a well to clean it out.

Do you have a well or pump in your property, or do you have a tale to tell about it?

Please contact John on 01929 471469.
