• MELANIE Dive tells me that the first draw in the new season of the St Andrew’s School 200 Club has just taken place, and that it took place in 5FE - Miss Ellis’s Year 5 Class.

The November winners are: Sarah Menaldino who wins £50 with ticket number 54 drawn by Joshua Bishop, Kirsty Dring with £30 on ticket number 132 drawn by Jessica Flynn and in third place with number 199 drawn by Harry Taylor-Griffiths is Hannah Kelly who wins £15.

All the proceeds from the draw go to provide facilities for the children at St Andrew’s School, so why not join the 200 Club yourself at a cost of only £1 a month.

You may be lucky - and will certainly help the children, so give Mel a ring on 832467

  • I COMMENTED recently that that one of the local Women’s’ Institutes would, as part of their afternoon meeting, be partaking of an American Tea, and that I did not know what this was.

Thank you to all the ladies who contacted me to say that an American Tea is one where everyone brings something towards it!

You are never too old to learn!

  • THE ST. ANDREW’S School PTA is holding a Christmas Fayre at St Andrew's School on Littlemoor Road Friday, 5 December 2008 from 5pm - 7pm.

This is an excellent opportunity to buy Christmas gifts, as there will be many stalls offering their wares.

These will include plants, jewellery, an exciting new stall selling precious rocks and much more. If you are interested in booking a stall please contact Julia on 813064.

There will also be craft activities for the children, raffles, tombolas, cakes & festive refreshments! The children can visit Santa in his grotto to request all those things they would like in their stockings on Christmas morning – well, it cannot do any harm to ask, can it?

With free entry and free parking, and something for everyone guaranteed it is an evening not to be missed – everyone is welcome.

  • I MENTIONED a while ago that everyone who attended ‘Snowball 2008’ had, by all accounts, a marvellous evening, and no doubt they will be eagerly looking forward to ‘Snowball 2009’ which promises to be even better, for this will feature dancing to that well known local band Tempo.

In case you are still in the dark, the Snowball is an annual dance held in aid of St Andrew’s Church, and the next will be on Saturday, 10 January 2009 at the Hotel Prince Regent.

Despite the credit crunch and rising prices the ladies who have organised the event, Yvonne, Julie, Tomina and Rosemarie, have managed to keep the ticket price at £20, exactly the same as last time, and, of course, all proceeds will benefit St Andrew's Church.

This is a great way to start off the New Year, and all in a very good cause. Ring 837289 to book your tickets – don’t leave it too late because they are usually in short supply.
