THE car park at Weymouth train station has received an award for good security levels.
It was among 16 South West Trains’ station car parks to be recognised with Park Mark awards.
The awards are part of the Safer Parking Scheme which is run by the Association of Chief Police Officers, supported by the Home Office and managed by the British Parking Association.
Weymouth’s station car park in King Street was among a dozen locations to be accredited with an award.
Others in Dorset included Bournemouth and Poole.
Head of estates Alistair Wright said: “The Park Mark scheme sets nationally-recognised standards that will assist giving our passengers additional peace of mind and ensure that maximum use of the car parks is made.
“All in all it’s a win-win situation for us and our customers.”
Surveys carried out by a police assessor looked at the success of management procedures and security measures.
All the stations awarded had seen improvements such as better white lining, fence repairs and landscaping.
