CS05 Bob Guest and his dog Jerry Lee from Lulworth Dog Section achieved a very respectable 7th place overall at the annual Military Guard Service Dog Trials at Strensall near York.

The trials consist of five skills carried out by the dog and the dog handler and include an obstacle run, obedience, agility and the drills of detection and apprehension of intruders and criminals.

The dog and handler are also judged on turnout and bearing throughout the competition.

There were 23 participating teams from throughout the UK mainland and Northern Ireland.

The next trials take place at Warminster in September and the Dog Section at Lulworth will be there battling it out again!

Well done Jerry Lee and Bob.

  • BOVINGTON’S cake sale raised more than £1,300 for local charities The cake sale and raffle was held in the commander’s conference room in the Armour Centre, and raised a massive £1,317 for local and national charities.

A total of 64 prizes were donated from several local companies and Bovington-based units and personnel.

Three charities – Help for Heroes, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Purbeck Gateway Club – will each receive cheques for £585 from money raised at cake sales in the spring and October. A big thank-you to Pauline Paulley from MSW for organising so many fund raising events over the last three/four years. During this time she has managed to raise £9,000 for charities. Sadly the cake sale in October will be the last she will organise for the garrison due to her retirement this spring. She would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has both helped and supported her over the years.
