Like many people I was saddened when the Guides long association with The Old Town Hall was terminated in 2007.

We were told that the condition of the listed building was so poor that it would need a sound commercial company with considerable assets to bring the building back up to the standard required.

Despite some very hard marketing that company was never found. I believe many expressed interest but no one followed through. Too big a task? Too costly?

Now the Echo tells us the future of this fine old building is secured by a lease to a community group. I am so pleased that it is to be used by the community again, but I do hope they have not been encouraged to bite off more than they can chew.

I hope there will some space for artists in this art heritage centre, now that the Arts Centre is no longer available to them.

Chapelhay Community Partnership look very enthusiastic and with the energy of the re-enactment team perhaps they can succeed. I wish them loads of luck.
