POP star Will Young is the latest big-name act to be added to the bill for this year’s Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle.

The Pop Idol winner, 30, will play the main stage on Sunday afternoon at the three-day event in July.

He and French rockers Phoenix join a bill already boasting Dorset star PJ Harvey and disco kings Chic, featuring Nile Rodgers.

Meanwhile, fans can now pay for their tickets in three instalments because of the credit crunch.

Camp Bestival organiser and Radio One DJ Rob da Bank said: “Will Young is a massive pop star and right up our street as a family-orientated festival.

“He’ll really appeal to the mums and dads and he’s got a really good young fanbase as well.

“Will’s exactly the sort of artist people want to see at Camp Bestival. He’s great fun and he’s got a great voice.”

Phoenix, who feature former Daft Punk founder Laurent Brancowitz, will play the main stage on Saturday night.

Rob da Bank said: “They’re not hugely famous in Britain but among certain music types they’re a big deal.

“They should be a lot bigger and I think they’re really going to blow up big style this year with their new album.

“They’re such a great act to have on board for Camp Bestival.”

Rob da Bank, founder of popular Isle of Wight event Bestival, said there were more big acts to be revealed.

“They’re staying top secret at the moment,” he added. “But there is a lot more to come.

Tickets for Camp Bestival, which takes place on July 24 – 26, are available now, with adult weekend passes priced at £130 with camping or £100 without.

But Rob da Bank said festival-goers would now be able to spread payments.

He said: “Rather than paying a deposit and the rest later, people can pay a third now, a third in May and a third in June.”
