NOROVIRUS has struck at the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, resulting in the closure of four wards.
Staff said that the hospital has been hit by a virulent strain of the vomiting and diarrhoea bug.
Members of the public are being urged to stay away from the hospital unless it is an emergency.
The four wards that have closed are Day Lewis Ward, Purbeck Ward, the Coronary Care Unit and Hinton Ward.
