A free training course is being held for potential volunteer event stewards.
The three-day event is part of the preparations for the county’s 2012 Olympic events.
Volunteer Centre Dorchester is running the course over Friday, April 17, Wednesday, April 22, Thursday, April 30, at the Brownsword hall in Poundbury.
Volunteers will need to complete all three days followed by practical assessments.
As well as providing an introduction to the skills of event stewarding, the course will cover crowd control, spectator safety, and emergency first aid.
On successful completion all volunteers will be awarded NVQ level 2 award in Spectator Safety.
The course is available to anyone aged 16 or over and not in full-time education and is run in partnership with Southwest forum.
The Volunteer Centre is currently looking for more venues for groups of volunteers to be assessed as stewards, such as sports stadiums, where an element of supervision or crowd control is required.
