Malcolm Hemmings usually takes his family on holiday in Norfolk but this August he has returned to Weymouth after 20 years.

Malcolm has brought his wife Linda, 56, and their youngest daughter Chloe, 12, down to Dorset for their annual two-week summer break.

“I don’t know why I haven’t come sooner really – we have been going to other places in England but this year I wanted a change and I wanted to come and see what it’s like now.

“It’s like taking a trip down memory lane.”

Malcolm used to visit the area with his wife every year nearly two decades ago.

He said: “Linda and I would come all the time – we used to camp in Osmington Mills, just by the White Horse.

“We loved it and had some great times.”

The Hemmings family, from Mansfield, have bought their new puppy Suzie with them this year. Malcolm said: “We all love walking along the beach, especially our dog.

“It’s also great for our daughter. She isn’t a confident swimmer but because the sea is shallow for a long way here, it’s perfect for her.”

Malcolm has taken the opportunity to do some mackerel fishing while he is in Weymouth.

He said: “I do like fishing but I don’t get to do it often, it’s usually good down here so I thought I would give it a go.”
