EVERY DAY throughout the summer we'll be talking to people about what makes this area so special. Today, we speak to Sylvia Carpizo who travels all the way from Valencia in Spain every year to visit her friend in Weymouth...

NOT only do people in England like to holiday on the south coast but the golden sands of Weymouth are attracting people from all over Europe.

Sylvia Carpizo travels all the way from Valencia in Spain every year to visit her friend Rosanna Montalva who lives and works in Weymouth.

Sylvia, 30, spends two months every summer here in Dorset, she said: “I have been coming for the past five years, I love it here.

“The beach is great when the weather is nice and the shops are pretty good as well.

“I also go sailing quite often – one of my friends I have made here has a boat so we go out when we can.”

Sylvia’s friend Rosanna, 26, moved to Weymouth five years ago after registering for work with a job agency.

She said: “They found work for me here so I moved and I like it so much that I have stayed.”

The two friends like to visit local attractions when they can. Sylvia said: “We have been to quite a few places in the area but as we don’t have a car here we have to use the bus but they are quite good so it’s fine.”

Rosanna knows she won’t stay in England for good but at the moment she has no plans to leave.

“I will move back home at some point but right now I’m just enjoying being in a lovely place with good weather and really nice people.”
