A LUCKY Weymouth woman is the proud owner of a gleaming white Mercedes Vicky Nicholson, 34, won the K-reg 190E automatic after it was given up for charity by its previous owner, Weymouth’s Catholic priest Father Stephen.

Father Stephen, the priest in charge at the Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea that incorporates the churches of St Agustine’s and St Joseph’s in Weymouth, donated it to a parish fundraising group.

It was then raffled to raise money for the Stella Maris One World Group who donate to a number of good causes at home and abroad through the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) and other charities. Over 400 tickets were sold meaning the raffle raised £2,060 and a further £282.23 was raised on the day from the fete stalls.

Winner Mrs Nicholson, ho runs Shine Beauty Therapy at Curls Hair and Beauty at Lodmoor Hill, said she ‘couldn’t believe it’ when she won.

“I was so shocked because I never win anything.

“I thought it would be great to win the car but I mainly entered because I saw it was going towards a good cause.”

“I’m still using my old car as a run-around where as the Mercedes is more for pleasure. My husband uses the car more than me because he absolutely loves it.”
