MOTHER and daughter Lindsey Howell and Louisa Franzen have teamed up for a 25th anniversary fundraiser at Kingston Maurward.

Mum Lindsey has been organising an annual craft fair at the college for 25 years.

Daughter Louisa Franzen has brought the gourmet food to the event in recent years.

They are holding the two-day Christmas Craft and Gourmet Food Show on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15.

Proceeds are in aid of the Grace Secondary School appeal to help a remote community in the Nuba mountains of Sudan.

Louisa said: “We have really pushed the boat out for the 25th anniversary and I can’t believe how much we have going on.

“It is such a lovely event with a great atmosphere and in the most beautiful setting of Kingston Maurward.

“We always have a lot of fun. Last year we began supporting the Grace Secondary School appeal and we are doing the same this year.

The event runs on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm and it is for the whole family.

“There’s something for everyone,” added Louisa.

The show will include items from 26 different local producers, cookery demonstrations from some of the county’s top chefs and 40 local craft exhibitors.

There will be a Santa’s grotto where children can take part in art and craft activities, as well as a hog roast and a bar. The entrance fee is £2 for adults, £1.50 for OAPs and free for all children under 12.

Claire and Richard Budd, from Dorchester, launched the Grace Secondary School appeal.

They have raised £76,000 so far but are still raising cash.

The initial aim was to build a school for a community in Sudan, but now they hope to develop more projects, such as clinics and HIV/AIDS awareness workshops.

The next fundraiser is a Christmas ball at Kingston Maurward on Sunday, December 20. Tickets are £45.
