GLOBE-TROTTING trader Conor Woodman is on his way to a special event at Kingston Maurward College near Dorchester.

The presenter has issued a rallying cry to the Dorset business community before his appearance: the world is your market.

Conor, star of the 2009 Channel 4 TV series Around The World in 80 Trades, will be at the college on February 24.

He will talk about his international adventures and the lessons he learned.

The evening event has been organised by Business Link.

He says that one lesson he has learned is that small businesses should not be afraid of going for new markets, especially export.

Conor said: “I think my experiences have shown that you can make a profit in export markets without having global IT systems and a huge investment behind you.

“If one bloke like me can walk into a market he has never seen before and make a profit, then everybody can do it.”

Conor quit his job as a market analyst in the City, sold his flat and travelled across four continents.

He bought and sold various items, including horses, fish, red wine and chilli sauce.

He managed to double his £25,000 stake in five months.

The Kingston Maurward event is at 6pm on Wednesday, February 24. There will be another event featuring Conor Woodman at the Empire Cinema, Tower Park, Poole on March 3.

All business owners or senior managers are welcome to attend.

There is no charge, but booking is essential to ensure a place.
