A MOTORCYCLIST was injured in a crash on the A35 near Bere Regis which caused traffic chaos.

Motorists were diverted after the road was closed in both directions following the collision involving a motorbike and three cars near Slepe during yesterday afternoon’s rush-hour.

A Dorset Police spokesman said no-one involved in the collision was thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The spokesman said the road was closed at around 5.30pm while the vehicles were recovered and was due to reopen by around 8pm.

A police spokesman at the scene said it is believed that a deer ran into the road shortly before the incident.

Officers initially closed the westbound lane between Halls Road and the B3075 at Chitten Hill before closing the road in both directions.

Police diverted traffic from the scene via Lytchett Matravers and East Morden.

The collision caused major disruption for motorists.

Staff at the nearby Priory Hotel in Wareham said that they had already experienced traffic delays earlier in the day because of a burst water main at nearby Sandford.
