MARK Morris says it is "too risky" to play any of his current first team squad in tonight's Sammy McGowan Cup game against Weymouth at the Avenue Stadium (7.45).

"With four Conference South games to go we still have a chance of making the play-offs and I just can't afford to gamble on getting any more injuries," said Morris whose new signing Dave Allen from Bournemouth Sports will be the Magpies only senior squad member lining up against the Terras for a tie that could settle the destination of the trophy.

"I was down to 14 contract players before Saturday and things got worse when Mark Robinson pulled a hamstring and Gareth Keeping had to have a couple of stitches put in a cut under his eye.

"He was very groggy, but hopefully he will be all right for Saturday's game against Margate, although Robbo will probably be out for a couple of weeks," said Morris who already has full back Antony Griffin and ex-skipper Andy Harris sidelined by injury.

Newcomer Allen, who watched Saturday's draw with Lewes from the stand because off a Dorset FA suspension for five bookings, is given his full Magpies debut and Morris will also be bolstering his reserve squad with four other trialists, including two currently on the books of a Nationwide Conference club.

Meanwhile victory for the Terras tonight will secure the cup. Weymouth are three points ahead of the Magpies, with just one game to go after tonight.

But only goal difference will separate the old rivals if Dorchester can repeat the Boxing Day 4-1 success over Garry Hill's side.

Hill is planning to use tonight's game as a chance to cast his eye over squad members he has seen little of in competitive action.

It means possible starts for midfielders Mark Boyce and Kieren Keane and striker Ludovic Cadima. Winger Adam Wilde may also play, continuing his comeback from a long lay-off.

The former Worcester City star, who has been out with a groin injury, made a substitute appearance at Cambridge City last weekend.
