STAR of the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin's new pocket rocket Vantage V8, will be with UK customers by late summer - and for those who have put down a deposit that moment can't come soon enough.

Designed to go head-to-head with the Porsche 911, the £80,000 V8 Vantage is the most sports car as opposed to grand touring focused Aston Martin ever with its combination of lightweight, compact size, agility and power.

At 4.38 metres long it is the smallest model in the Aston Martin range.

The two-seater only V8 Vantage features many of the design cues that have become basic DNA for all Aston Martin models such as the chipped edge grille, nose badge and side vent, while minimal front and rear overhangs, combined with a wide track, appear to push the rear wheels out and enhance the extremities of the bodywork.

At the rear a hatchback offers practicality in combination with a large shelf area accessed by the tailgate.

Inside, Aston Martin's craftsmanship features a combination of grained leather, alloy trimmings, 10 way adjustable electric seats, climate control air conditioning, CD sound system, alarm and immobiliser.

Built at Aston Martin's Headquarters at Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK, the V8 Vantage completes the current Aston Martin line-up that now comprises the flagship Vanquish S and the DB9."The V8 Vantage is a significant car for us," explained Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin.

"It is now the third model in our range and is the culmination of the first phase of reinvigorating the Aston Martin brand around the world that began in the year 2000.

"The V8 Vantage is a true Aston Martin, built with the same high integrity and passion as all of our cars. This is the more affordable Aston Martin and its design and agility should help to widen our appeal and attract younger customers to our marque."
