GUY Spencer and Jon Sanchez were the stars of the show as Bournemouth overran Minety 106-5 to rewrite the club's record books in a one-sided Southern Counties South contest at Chapel Gate.

Spencer established a new club record of five tries scored in a league match, overtaking his previous record of four set on three separate occasions.

And Sanchez set a new club record of 12 goals in a league match breaking Jon Osborne's previous best of 11 set in October 1995.

Spencer also increased his club record tally of league tries to 67 and overtook Robert Bruce's tally of eight to become Bournemouth's leading try scorer this season with nine.

Sanchez also set a new club record of 12 conversions in a league game, overtaking Osborne's previous best of nine in October 1995 when he also slotted over penalties in a 78-9 home win over Banbury in the old South West Division Two.

The fly half also extended his own club record of consecutive appearances in that position in a league season to 16 as he has been an ever present in the competition this term.

Bournemouth, fielding the same squad for an unprecedented third match in a row, ran in 16 tries in all with Dan Cawley (three), Andy Edwards (two), Scott Chislett (two), Darren Clarke, Chris Denholm, Sam Hardcastle and Jon Holdaway also touching down.

The runaway victory keeps the Lions hot on the heels of Southern Counties South joint leaders Frome and Wootton Bassett, who they trail at the top of the table by one point apiece.

It was the first time Bournemouth had passed the magic 100 points milestone in the league since December 1999 when they hammered Sherborne 115-3.

The Lions stormed into a 26-0 lead within 20 minutes through tries from Denholm, Hardcastle, Sanchez and Edwards and by then the writing was already on the wall for Minety, who struggled with a below par team.

They were hit hard because one of their players was holding his wedding on the same day as the game and several more of the team's players were guests and unable to line up against Bournemouth.

Having said that, the Lions maintained their discipline during the riot and powered into a 59-0 lead at the break with further tries from Spencer (two), Edwards, Cawley and Holdaway.

Downing replied with a try for Minety two minutes into the second half to cut their deficit to 59-5.

But Bournemouth continued their progression towards the 100 mark by adding more tries from Spencer (two), Chislett (two), Cawley and Clarke as they led 99-5 with eight minutes still to go.

Cawley's completed his hat-trick of tries in the 73rd minute to take the Lions beyond the 100 milestone and after Sanchez had converted referee Arthur Grun ended Minety's misery by blowing the final whistle early with Bournemouth 106-5 winners.

Hardcastle kicked Bournemouth's opening conversion before Sanchez slotted over their next 12.

Bournemouth: Spencer, Flynn (Chislett 52), Bruce, Cawley, Edwards, Sanchez, Hardcastle, Holdaway, Denholm, Awdas (Clarke 40), Winduss, Seward, Harris, Kiely, Kenny (Freeman 43).
