FRUSTRATED villagers are demanding action, fearing it is only a matter of time until a fatal road crash happens at Morden Park Corner.

Morden Parish Council is campaigning for alterations - either a roundabout or centre turning space - to help local motorists cross the busy A35.

Alex Kenton, chairman of Morden parish council, said: "We want something done before someone is killed.

"For at least 10 years we've been writing to Dorset County Council saying this is a very dangerous corner and for 10 years they have kept putting us off."

Cllr Malcolm Shakesby said: "More and more traffic is going through that junction because of new signing, new road systems and problems with congestion.

"I am livid as there is going to be a fatality sometime or another."

Bill Green, Dorset County Council project manager in the Local Transport Plan and Improvements Group, said: "The county council is aware of the parish council's concerns and has made funding provision in its capital budget for the design costs of an improvement of the Morden Park Corner junction. The design process began in April of this year, when I briefed the consulting engineers to undertake a feasibility study into the problems at the junction.

"The report has only just been delivered and considers various design options, the environmental and physical constraints of the site, along with other issues, and suggests possible solutions together with estimated costs.

"In the very near future I expect to discuss in detail the options and the way forward with both Cllr Shakesby and Morden Parish Council once I have had time to properly study and fully consider the consultants' report."
