TWO schoolboy vandals have smashed every window in a chapel of rest at Weymouth Cemetery.

Each pane of glass in the building on Newstead Road was broken after being pelted with stones by the pair of yobs dressed in school uniforms.

Witness David Paul saw the attack while visiting a relative's grave.

He said the two children were wearing what were clearly school uniforms and were aged between eight and 12.

Mr Paul, who lives nearby, said: "Not content with having smashed all the windows and damaging the window framework, they then proceeded to try and break all the other windows away from the road that are protected."

The two thugs ran off when challenged.

He added: "What on earth compels children to vandalise property that is not theirs?

"It was very annoying to see.

"Unless they are visiting relatives they shouldn't really be there.

"I don't suppose they will be caught, but even if they are what can be done?

"It will be the council tax payer who has to foot the bill."

A spokesman for Weymouth West Police said they were unaware of the crime but would investigate if it was reported.
