FIREWORKS and fun dominated last night's Dorset celebrations for November 5.
One of the biggest celebrations saw more than 10,000 people gather on Weymouth beach for the town's Guy Fawkes' Night bonfire and fireworks display co-ordinated by Pains Fireworks.
A huge bonfire lit up the Esplanade before a spectacular aerial display of explosions and colour dominated the night sky above an appreciative crowd.
Dorset Police said it was a quiet night and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said they were very pleased with public response to their pleas for firework safety.
A fire service spokesman said: "There were a few bonfires that we didn't know about but apart from that it was relatively peaceful. People were well behaved."
Firefighters were called to land at Lodmoor tip in Weymouth where a security guard took them to deal with a small fire which had been started maliciously.
