POLICE in Bournemouth are appealing for information following a sharp increase in drug overdoses and deaths.

In the last month, the ambulance service has responded to five suspected drug overdoses, with a further two deaths reportedly linked to heroin.

Detective Rod James said: "A rise like this is very unusual and could suggest there is an especially dangerous batch of drugs in circulation, which could be mixed with poisonous ingredients. We need to find the suppliers. I would urge anyone with useful information to come forwards in confidence - even if they would usually avoid contact with the police - to get these potentially lethal drugs off the streets," he adds.

Anyone with information is urged to call Dorset Police on 01202 222222 or the anonymous and free Crimestoppers service on 0800 555111.
