A PLUCKY Lyme Regis woman has won a silver medal for Great Britain in an international Tae Kwon Do competition. Sharon Ward, 29, from Raymond's Hill, scooped the prestigious prize at the Korean Tae Kwon Do American Association international championships in Detroit last month. Sharon, who fights at fin weight, came home with a broken rib - but she said it was worth it and hopes to compete for Britain in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. She said: "I was so pleased. It was worth it, I had such a great time out there." Sharon, who works at the Pilot Boat as well as Charmouth primary school and runs the Guides in Lyme Regis with her mum, Jeannette, has practised Tae kwon do for five years and recently got her black belt. She is a member of a club in Dorchester but hopes to set up a club at the Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis in the new year. Sharon thanked her sponsors from Lyme Regis, including the Albany Guest House, MIBRAND, as well as Bill Wiscombe at the Pilot Boat and the head master of Charmouth primary school, Chris Vincent, for letting her have time off to compete.
