IT'S time to check out what music you're making, so here's a selection of some of the CD's you've been sending in.

ALPHINO'S EP, Title Goes Here, offers four well-produced tracks. Opener L.M.B is catchy and angsty with singer Ian Crabb showcasing some passionate vocals. The rest of the EP features some nice guitar work, harmonies and percussion, however, the lyrics are a little cliched at times. Catch them at King Arthur's Court on November 11.

HATE BOX is the latest release from Bournemouth quartet Circa and is packed with six tracks of highly-charged aggression. Vocalist, Chandra Nair, sings with a snarl and a sense of urgancy spurred on by gritty guitars. It's like teasing a dog with a bone and watching it growl. You can buy Hate Box online for £3.99 at www.overplay.co.uk/circa.

FINALLY, to four tracks from hillbilly/folk outfit Pronghorn featuring on the Endorse it in Dorset compilation CD. The eight-piece offer a lyrically skewed take on life, including a re-vamped version of Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit, which has been re-named, Smells like White Spirit. Unpredictable and frenzied, Pronghorn are fun and unchallenging and don't take themselves, or their music, too seriously. You can see them play tonight at The Nelson, Poole.

ALSO Jef Streatfield, former guitarist of The Wildhearts, will be playing The Central, Lower Parkstone, tonight with his new project, Plan A. The three-piece will be supported by The Stand-Ins. Tickets are £10 adavance.
