JOHN Spicer will be staying at Cherries for a third month after Arsenal agreed a further extension on his loan deal.

The skilful midfielder, whose current deal expires after Saturday's visit to Peterborough, should sign the extension in the next few days after boss Sean O'Driscoll was given the green light from the Premiership champions to keep him for another month.

And Spicer is more than happy to continue his Coca-Cola League One career on the south coast after impressing in his 11 first-team appearances, scoring three goals in the process.

He told the Daily Echo: "I haven't actually signed yet but I don't see any problems - it is all agreed.

"Sean came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted to stay for a third month, I said 'yes', so he went back to Arsenal and they agreed.

"I've been really enjoying it. It has been a good couple of months so far and hopefully the third will be just as good."

It is testament to the 21-year-old's ability that he has become an integral part of the Cherries midfield in the short time he has been at Dean Court.

Spicer, whose arrival has been paid for by Playershare, has forged an effective partnership with Brian Stock and the Romford-born star has also adapted well to the rigours of first-team football.

He said: "You hear that League One is really physical before you play in it but it hasn't been that bad. It is competitive but you wouldn't expect anything different.

"One of the main reasons that Arsenal let me come here in the first place was the way Bournemouth play. When the request came in, they said 'at least they always try and play football the right way there' and that has suited my game.

"It has also helped that myself and Brian have got a good little partnership going on so far. We understand what we are both trying to do and that will improve the more we play together."

Although this third month will be the maximum of a short-term deal, Cherries have the option to extend his loan for the rest of the season before December 31. That, however, is on the assumption that all parties are keen and that Playershare can again pick up the bill.

The club have also been boosted with the news that Spicer will be also allowed to play in the FA Cup first round fixture at Forest Green Rovers on November 13.

Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll confirmed that the extension is set to be rubber-stamped in the near future. He said: "It has all been agreed. We are awaiting the necessary paperwork from Arsenal but don't anticipate any problems.

"They have been a pleasure to deal with throughout. I think they know it is benefiting the player and we appreciate him being here. It is also very good of them to allow him to play in the FA Cup."
