TESCO workers across Dorset put their best foot forward to collect just over £4,300 for Cancer Research UK.

The cash was raised by 121 staff from Tesco stores in Dorchester, Weymouth, Blandford and Poole who ran and walked this year's Race for Life event at Kingston Maurward.

They were among almost 2,000 women who pounded the five-mile course near Dorchester in June.

Paula Allberry, service duty manager at Weymouth's Tesco store, said seven workers at the store took part in the Kingston Maurward race and boosted the appeal's coffers by just over £1,000.

She added: "It was a fantastic atmosphere.

"It was the third time we entered the race and it's good to see people coming back year after year.

"We took part because there are few of us who have not been touched by cancer in some way, through family or friends.

"We would like to say a big thank you to all the customers who sponsored us."
