MORE than £3,000 was raised for charity at an annual event organised by Poole residents.

Richard and Connie Knott, from Brudenell Avenue in Canford Cliffs, have opened up their garden to members of the public in aid of a different charity for each of the last nine years.

The 2004 event, which collected £3,060 for the Westbourne-based Youth Cancer Trust, featured a range of stalls including plants, cakes, a tombola and face painting as well as a hog roast, ice cream and toffee apples.

Visitors were also treated to the sight of the Luscombe Valley miniature railway in action.

Mrs Knott said: "I just feel we've got the railway here and we've got a big garden, so it's nice to give something back."
