LEWIS Buxton admits he would "jump at the chance" to come back to Dean Court for a third loan spell next season.

The Portsmouth defender, who was a regular for Cherries this term during his season-long loan, is expected to be told he will be allowed to go out on loan from Fratton Park once again next term.

And that could open the door for another approach from Sean O'Driscoll for the steady 20-year-old for another season's stay, after his earlier three-month spell during the 2002-03 campaign. Portsmouth have informed fellow promising youngster and former Cherries target, striker Rowan Vine, he will also be allowed to gain more experience on loan, but insist the duo re-main part of the future plans.

Chairman Milan Mandaric told the Portsmouth News: "I still think Harry Redknapp wants them (Buxton and Vine) to go out and gain more experience for another year. But they are very much part of the long-term plans here."

The Isle of Wight-born star is unlikely to gain a foothold in Redknapp's Premiership line-up with Dejan Stefanovic, Linvoy Primus, Arjan De Zeeuw and Hayden Foxe currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

Buxton told the Daily Echo: "I haven't been told by Portsmouth that they are going to let me go out on loan again but it wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

"If Bournemouth wanted to take me, I'd jump at the chance to go back there. I enjoyed my time. At the end of the season Sean O'Driscoll said we should play it by ear and see what happens. Loan deals tend to come out of the blue but if I was back at Bournemouth I would at least know everybody. The team is growing together. The club made good progress this season and I think we can improve again next year."

Meanwhile, fellow Pompey club colleague and ex-Cherries loan keeper Chris Tardif has been released. The shot-stopper made 14 appearances for Cherries two seasons ago before injury and the arrival of Neil Moss saw his involvement curtailed.
