WEYMOUTH face a battle to clinch the Dr Martens Premier Division runners-up spot after scraping a last-gasp 2-2 draw at Welling United.

The Terras trailed 2-0 with just 90 seconds of normal time left at Park View Road.

But strikes from Paul Buckle and Robbie Pethick secured a dramatic draw from the jaws of defeat.

The point leaves Steve Claridge's side two points ahead of third-place Stafford Rangers ahead of this weekend's final league fixture at home to Grantham Town.

But Stafford have a game in hand on the Dorset club and are now arguably favourites to finish the season in second place.

Rangers' game in hand, away at Weston-super-Mare, will now be played on Monday, May 3 after the contest was controversially abandoned earlier this month.

Stafford were leading 1-0 at half-time when the match was called off after an injury to an official at Woodspring Park.

The two sides could not agree over a potential replacement, prompting the clash to be halted.

Stafford had hoped to be awarded the win, but Dr Martens League bosses ruled yesterday the clash should be replayed.

Meanwhile, Weymouth travel to Dorchester Town tonight in their latest Two Counties Cup tie, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Terras are expected to field a combination of first teamers and second string players at the Avenue Stadium.

That could mean starts for a host of players whose Wessex Stadium futures remain up in the air.

Among those whose contracts expire this weekend are Mark Robinson, John Waldock, Simon Browne and Leon Green.

All could play a part tonight while a number of promising youngsters including defender Nathan Walker - a second half substitute at Welling - and Ryan Hill may also play.

Weymouth round off their Two Counties campaign, a competition already won by Wimborne Town, on Tuesday night when they travel to Bridport.
