THE streets of Poole were awash with patriotism when a St George's Day parade made its way through the town.

Some 600 scouts from Poole East District group took part in yesterday's event, which was led by the Dolphin Marching Band and began from Bournemouth and Poole College in North Road.

The annual parade made its way to St Peter's Church where around 800 people, including Mayor of Poole Ray Smith, attended a special service.

A similar event was held in Bournemouth when town scouts marched from the Pavilion, through the Gardens to the Square.

The town's mayor Anne Rey then joined the group at a service at Richmond Hill United Reformed Church to read a lesson.

Christchurch District Scouts and Guides also took part in the celebrations with a third parade.

The march began at Christchurch Quay and made its way through the town's streets to finish at Christchurch Priory.
