STARS from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden are descending on Dorchester later this month for a concert to raise funds for CancerCare Dorset and the Joseph Weld Hospice.

Soprano Glenys Roberts, mezzo-soprano Amanda Floyd, tenor George Owen and baritone John Morgan will be performing exerpts from some of the most popular operas by Bizet, Verdi, Mozart, Strauss and others during the performance in the United Church, South Street on Saturday, March 27.

The concert, called A Night at the Opera, has been organised by Dorchester-based singing teacher Oliver Broome whose wife Teresa died of cancer two years ago.

Tickets are £10 to include a programme and refreshments and are available from Joseph Weld Hospice in Herringston Road, Dorchester, CancerCare Dorset at Hammick House, Poundbury and from Harmony Music in The Forum, Trinity Street, Dorchester.
