THE PRINCIPLES OF LUST (18)

Based loosely on an unpublished novel - and after viewing this you can see why the manuscript never made it into print - this is a grimy, hard-hitting British spin on Fight Club.

Sweaty, graphic sex scenes and shocking sequences of young boys battering each other to a bloody pulp break up the dreary narrative, propelling us and the characters on a journey to hell and back... in Sheffield.

Struggling writer Paul (Alec Newman) has always enjoyed his independence but now he is considering trading in his freedom to settle down with single mother Juliet (Sienna Guillory) and her son Harry (Alexander Popplewell).

His concerns about becoming a father are preyed upon by new friend Billy (Marc Warren), a photographer who delights in walking on the seamier side of life, including having sex with anything that moves and attending illegal bare-knuckle boxing matches between 11-year-old boys.

Billy introduces Paul to a world of vicarious thrills, where everyone's chief concern is pleasure.
