OAKMEADIANS' seconds scored a satisfactory 27-7 victory over Sherborne's first XV while their junior ladies slipped to an agonising 39-15 defeat in the semi-final of the Ladies Junior National Cup, southern region.

Bishop, Stewart and McLaren touched down for the Oaks ladies.

Swanage and Wareham's third string enjoyed a comfortable 52-15 victory over Salisbury's thirds in Wiltshire.

Giles Margrett grabbed a hat-trick of tries while David Elford and Adam Danowiski both notched braces. Richard Templeton also went over for Swans.

Verwood enjoyed a 32-17 home win over Romsey despite being without eight regulars.

The hosts opened the scoring out wide through Charlie Cockram and Karl Jensen added another soon after following some more backline invention.

Despite a reply from the visitors, Marc Kuhne stretched Verwood's lead at the start of the second period and Phil Emery danced in for another.

Jensen's second wrapped things up to give Verwood a confidence boosting win ahead of next week's potential promotion decider against table-toppers Ventnor.

l East Dorset were denied a well-deserved win as they lost out 17-15 to Tottonians courtesy of a dubious late penalty.

Phil Carter put Dorset in front, driving over but the visitors hit back through Mike Hall's score. Calum Docherty put the Iford Lane side back in front only for a charged down clearance to allow Tottonians in for another try.

Paul Smith looked to have won it for the hosts when he crashed over, but with minutes remaining, the controversial penalty was awarded and kicked to hand victory to the away side.
