SOUTH Coast law firm Lester Aldridge is hoping to gain business from Cannes' annual international property event MIPIM which starts today and runs until Friday.

MIPIM is considered a key international real estate event, bringing together decision makers, investors and end-users from throughout the property world.

Last year MIPIM attracted 14,276 participants from 62 countries, 5,253 participating companies and 3,453 end-users and investors.

One of the main purposes of MIPIM is to promote cross-border investment. This year's event is the 15th of its kind.

Last year two of LA's partners attended - this year three of the Bournemouth-based firm's partners will be going - Andrew Hignett, head of LA's real estate team, Joanne McGuinness, head of the firm's retail and leisure group and Rob Chapman, head of the new offices and industrial group.

LA will be one of a limited number of UK legal firms attending.

Mr Hignett said: "MIPIM really is the event in the real estate calendar.

"We found our attendance last year extremely beneficial and as well as giving us tremendous networking opportunities, it also directly resulted in new work."
