WEYMOUTH'S cricketers will be facing the strong arm of the law in Barbados next month.

The Seasiders go head to head with the island's Police Cricket Club as part of their two-week pre-season Caribbean tour.

And the visitors should feel at home when they meet the West Indian officers on April 7 - the game is being played at the Weymouth Grounds in Bridgetown.

"It's one of two confirmed games at this stage," explained tour organiser Michael Pearce, "and it's a real coincidence that they play at a place called Weymouth Grounds. We've been told they're likely to be pretty strong and so we're looking forward to it."

The Seasiders other contest is against North Stars Cricket Club on April 10.

North Stars are based at Crab Hill in St Lucy and it's hoped Weymouth can arrange a couple more fixtures before departing for the Caribbean on March 29.

Pearce added: "Obviously there are a lot of English sides touring the West Indies at the moment because England are over there and so it's been quite hard arranging games.

"But we're delighted to have confirmed these two fixtures and there's a strong chance of getting a couple more.

"The tour involves 21 players, wives and partners from the club and it should be a great experience. Aside from the games and a few training sessions, we're also going to watch the West Indies v England Test in Barbados which we're all really looking forward to."
