BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS 1 Dorchester RESERVES 1 FORMER Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Jimmy Glass was in inspirational form as Sports held the Magpies for the second time this season.

"I don't think I have ever seen a goalkeeper run the game like he did," said Magpies manager Phil Simkin. "Apart from making some great saves he initiated most of their attacks by just bombing the ball at our defence with some huge kicks.

"I can seen how they have just beaten Holt, Gillingham and Shaftes-bury in their last three games because they have re-modelled their side and brought in a few big lads from the Wessex League. It should make for an interesting game when we meet them in the League Cup semi-final at our place, although I don't think their style of football will win them too many friends."

While Glass, who still trains full-time with the Cherries, was starring for Sports, Magpies veteran Les Elsworth had an altogether less successful afternoon.

He was left red-faced after allowing a soft 30th minute shot from Ben Osborne to slip through his hands at his near post and had to be replaced by defender Steve Gilbert when he was carried off after injuring his ankle a few minutes later.

"It just wasn't Les' day," said Simkin. "He's usually so reliable and yet their goal was a real howler."

Glass meanwhile twice saved superbly from Ryan Dovell before denying Magpies newcomer Anthony Warrington a debut goal on at least two occasions.

"Anthony and our other new signing James Guetling both did well and when they settle in I am sure they will be good assets for the club," said Simkin.

The Magpies point-saver came just before half-time when Dovell put Dan MacDonald in on the right and he cut in before hitting a shot with the outside of his right boot which swerved over Glass into the far corner.
