BRIDPORT RES 0 GILLINGHAM TOWN 0 BRIDPORT Reserves ground out an important Elite Teamwear Dorset Premier point against Gillingham Town.
Bees second string manager Chris Fry described his team's performance as the best he's seen this season and they coped admirably with the Gills' firepower after a couple of early scares.
Ryan Hayter did well to get in a challenge to divert Loic Herouard's shot on to the outside of the post and the visitors also clipped the top of the crossbar from long range.
But Bridport visibly grew in confidence as the match wore on as Gillingham became more frustrated.
"After a couple of let offs our tackles started getting a bit crisper and the movement off the ball was better," said Fry.
"They like to play the ball from the back and with Darren Stewart playing centre forward we stopped them having comfortable possession."
The excellent Aaron Thomas, who did a fine marking job on Ward, had the Bees' best chance
with a header, while Micky Greeno tested the keeper on a couple of occasions from long range.
Dorchester YM player Idris Croft made his debut for Bridport in the final 15 minutes.
Bridport Res: Cuff, Cadman, M Lock, Hayter (Croft 75mins), D Lock, Menaldino (Davies 20 mins), Bailey, Thomas, Greeno, J Fry, Stewart.
