A 21-year-old man has been fined after a CCTV camera caught him brawling with his brother on their father's stag night.

Michael Andrew Turpitt was identified by the crime-busting cameras after operators spotted the fight which broke out during celebrations in Weymouth.

Weymouth magistrates heard Turpitt, of Stevens Close in Blandford, plead guilty to being drunk and disorderly, fined him £80 and told him to pay £80 in costs. He was convicted for being drunk and disorderly at Wimborne Magistrates' Court three years ago.

Prosecuting, Philip Kingdon said a CCTV operator saw two men fighting in St Thomas Street in Weymouth at 12.45am on Sunday, July 20.

Two police officers were called to the scene and arrested Turpitt after he became abusive and refused to get on a waiting mini-bus.

In mitigation, Simon Brimacombe said Turpitt was on his father's stag night and had got into an argument with his brother.

Mr Brimacombe added: "He would like to volunteer an apology to the court about what happened.

"He doesn't drink much since the offence in 2000 because it goes straight to his head."
