MAGPIES manager Phil Simkin called Holt's bully-boy tactics "an absolute disgrace" when two players ended up in hospital after last night's Dorset Premier League game at the Avenue Stadium.

Dorchester's Simon Critchell was stretchered off with a suspected broken ankle after an X-rated tackle which brought a red card for Holt substitute Scott Steel, the Magpies believe midfielder Danny Walsh may have broken ribs after allegedly being stamped on.

"It was as though their only intention was to kick eight bells out of us and a weak referee let them do it until it was far too late," blasted Simkin. "I have known their manager Steve Norman for a long time and he was a half decent player - how on earth he can condone tactics like that is totally beyond me.

"The sad thing is they don't need to play like that because they are not a bad side. I felt really sorry for my lads because we really showed them how to play football and just got kicked to pieces."

Magpies goalkeeper Steve Blandamer had a match he will want to forget, making mistakes for three of the goals. He completely missed crosses which allowed Paul Harding and Scott Bradford to give Holt a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes before good work by Paul Dovell and Lee Christopher carved out an opening for Aaron Turner to make it 2-1.

Despite losing Walsh and Aaron Bastafield at half-time, the Magpies had more chances before a deflected header by Lee Bradford put the visitors further ahead.

When a mis-hit shot bounced past Blandamer 10 minutes from time and Andy Legg went off with a head injury he claimed was caused by an elbow, Simkin's side knew it was not their night.

Magpies: Blandamer, Bastafield (MacDonald, 45), Wilson, Gilbert, Christopher, Taylor, S Legg, Walsh (A Legg, 45), Critchell (Southern, 80), Turner, Dovell.
