Dorchester skipper and wing forward Richard Elliott will lead his team into South West Division Two East against neighbours and former club Wimborne at Coburg Road tomorrow.

And the mouth-watering Dorset derby could turned out to be a best of three decider for the rivals.

The two clubs have one victory each to their credit this season, Wimborne in the league and Dorchester in a RFU Intermediate Cup.

Both games were decided by just one score so current form suggests that there is very little to choose between them.

Each team fell victim to the elements last weekend as Dorchester's clash with Swanage and Wareham was postponed shortly before the kick-off, as was Wimborne's at home to Grove.

The result is of more importance for Dorchester who are still too close to the drop zone for comfort and a win will probably move them to within a point of Salisbury who are fourth from bottom.

Elliott said: "Last Saturday when we arrived at Bestwall I walked over the pitch in trainers and it didn't seem too bad, but when we changed and I had my boots laced up there were parts of the playing surface that didn't take a stud.

"We had an impromptu team meeting and decided to approach the referee and see if it was possible to postpone the game, so it's now going to be played on the Saturday, March 8.

"We have got just a couple of changes to the team we selected for the Swans' game. Russ Eversden will move to number eight allowing me to play at blind side flanker and Chris Goulding returns to play on the open side. We are keeping our fingers crossed that both locks Steve Barrett and Dan Cowling will be available."

Swanage, meanwhile, travel to Windsor tomorrow, looking to get their championship challenge back on course.

Swans' spokesman Brian Marshall said: "We were disappointed to lose the fixture last weekend as we haven't played a competitive senior game for five weeks so we are a bit short of match practice."

In Dorset and Wilts Division One, Weymouth entertain Sherborne at Redlands and will have the services of assistant coach and flanker Nathan Howard back in their team.

The contest gives Seasiders' skipper Dave Allan the chance to renew acquaintances with some of his former teammates, but that will have to wait until after the game.

Allan said: "Fly half Duggie Bader and prop Steve Hodgson both picked up injuries last week against Bridport, but they have responded to treatment.

"I have seen the Sherborne team and they have former county hooker Alex James in their side so our front row will have to be up for it."

Puddletown are without a league fixture tomorrow and are hoping to pick up a home match on the county fixture exchange.
