FORMER Terras trialist Lance Spencer is back in Dorchester Reserves squad to face Stourpaine at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow determined to show he is good enough to justify a contract with the Magpies.
The son of former Yeovil striker Micky Spencer was at the centre of a mis-understanding a few weeks ago when Magpies second team boss Phil Simkin believed he had left the club to join Street.
It turned out however that it was Spencer senior who had signed for Street and although at the time Simkin questioned the 20-year-old's potential as a future Dr Martens League player he said he was sorry to see him go.
Now that has been forgotten and Simkin says he is pleased to give the ex-Bristol City trainee another chance to prove himself.
"We had a full-scale practice match at the Stadium last night and he showed some excellent touches," said Simkin today. "Perhaps I judged him too quickly, we'll have to wait and see."
Simkin's side have not played since holding league leaders Gillingham Town to a goal-less draw three weeks ago - but with tomorrow's game the first of two home matches against teams in the bottom half of the table, they will be keen to press their claims for a top three finish.
"After Stourpaine we play Cobham Sports at home on Wednesday and they are two matches we should win," he said.
