Portland United will be out to complete a rapid Dorset derby double at Grove Corner tomorrow (3pm).

After seeing off Wimborne Town in the quarter-finals of the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday, the Blues entertain Bournemouth Poppies in the Jewson Wessex League.

On paper, the sixth place islanders will start as clear favourites having already beaten their rivals 3-1 earlier in the season at Victoria Park.

Boss Nick Preston said: "Poppies are having a bit of a bad time of it at the moment and so I don't expect too many problems against them at home. But the fact that it's a derby game adds a little bit of extra spice and I'm certain they'll be coming down looking to avenge our victory up at their place at the start of the season.

"If it's anything like Tuesday's clash with Wimborne, then it will be a cracker. The boys are still buzzing from that but it's imperative that we don't go flat against what should be easier opponents."

Having hit a sticky patch in late November, early December, the Blues have bounced back well

in recent weeks with league successes against Downton and Blackfield and that cup win over the Magpies.

And the pleasing aspect of that little run for Preston is the fact that his men have hit the target 12 times in those three outings.

"James Reeve and Leigh Cornick are really clicking again up front," he explained, "just like they were at the start of the season. And people such as Chris Evans and Andy Mason are reaching peak form and so hopefully we're over the jitters.

"We've had more than our fair share of postponements in recent times and what's crucial now is that we start winning our games in hand to stay in touch with the leaders. We've got two coming up at home against Poppies and Fareham and I'd expect maximum points."

Preston has no selection worries and so, not surprisingly, he names the same starting 11 that lined up against Wimborne.

The only two players unavailable at the moment are injured duo Chris Naylor (foot) and Mark Carter (back) although both are expected to start training again soon.
