Bridport 20 Milford 2

ON FORM Bridport opened up a gap between the likelihood of relegation and certain safety in Dorset Division Two.

All members of the team were focused on putting in a match winning performance against a team who are struggling to stay in the league.

Mark Trafford called the tune against Chris Head, spraying his shots to all areas of the court to make the Milford man do all the running.

The pressure paid off and Head capitulated to allow Trafford a very good 9-2, 9-2, 6-9, 9-2 victory. Bridport's Simon Wood put on a barn storming display, keeping Phil Morgan on the defensive with a series of powerful drives.

His strategy proved decisive as Wood took the match by a 9-3, 9-5, 9-1 score.

At three, Chris Glover's play was, as always, very testing for his opponent with his ability to execute tight boast shots coupled with dangerous lobs.

Milford's Mike Palmer had no answer to Glover's tactics and went down 9-6, 8-10, 9-3, 9-6.

Richard Drinkwater was focused on playing a simple, straight forward game, keeping the rallies going and executing the winning shot when the opportunities presented themselves.

He was determined not to let his opponent Raymond Ridlers into the game and powered through to win 9-5, 9-3, 9-6.

Andrew MacGillivray made his first team debut at number five for Bridport after some very good games for the second team.

He took the promotion in his stride against the unorthodox Peter Lister, eventually forcing him onto the defensive and dominating the match with a good 9-5, 9-1, 9-7 victory.
