INTREPID Francis Raven-Vause is preparing for a gruelling hike through the South American jungle to help people with cancer.
Francis, 48, will join around 60 walkers from across the UK for the ten-day trek across around 60 miles of tough terrain in Costa Rica.
The group will hike from a 3,400m volcano in Irazu, through coffee plantations and tropical rain forests down to the coast, trekking an average of eight hours per day.
Francis, of Wimborne, said: "I did some trekking in New Zealand about 12 years ago but nothing as arduous as this."
Before the trip in January, Francis needs to raise at least £1,800 in sponsorship.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Francis can contact him on 01202 842135.
