UGLY sisters and a handsome prince are needed for a Dorchester production of Cinderella.

The Parish Players, which is a new company made up of members of Dorchester congregations, is putting on the pantomine of the much-loved fairytale next year.

Initial readings for parts are being held on Saturday, September 22, at St Mary's church hall at 6pm, and organisers are encouraging anyone interested, including youngsters who could take on children's parts, to come forward.

The production will be directed by Anne Jonathan, Lydia Hampshire and Sarah Prone.

Anne said the idea behind forming the company was to bring together members of different congregations and their children.

She said: "We think we might have a handsome prince but we are looking for some more ugly sisters. We need anyone who doesn't mind dressing up on stage and making a fool of themselves.

"We will be needing lots of help backstage and with all aspects of the production, as well as fairies and footmen, singers and dancers, ugly sisters and handsome princes. We hope this will be a fun event for all the family. Please come along and join in."

The play will be held in St Mary's church hall over half-term in February next year.
