TRIMAR Hospice held a party to thank all its volunteers for their hard work and to celebrate their merger with the Joseph Weld centre in Dorchester.
From October 1 both hospices will operate under joint management, with Trimar in Weymouth becoming a day centre and the Joseph Weld Hospice offering 24-hour care as well as day centre facilities.
Volunteers at the Weymouth hospice have undertaken a variety of roles, including manning the hospice shop, helping with the day-to-day running of the centre and raising funds.
Fundraising manager Chris Osborn said: "The party was very successful and Trimar owes a tremendous amount to all its volunteers. Without them Trimar couldn't offer its service to the community.
"Both the staff and volunteers are looking forward to the new merged trust."
The Weymouth hospice provides a wide range of care for people suffering from life-threatening diseases and chronic illnesses, most of whom need respite care.
It also offers social and psychological support and system control.
