BASHLEY secured a place in the next round of the FA Cup at the second time of asking at Mangotsfield United after Craig Anstey scored a wonder goal to finally separate the two sides.

The Dr Martens Western Division outfit were 2-0 up in the preliminary round tie on Saturday before the New Foresters pulled it back to level matters and force the replay.

And with 20 minutes left at Mangotsfield, Anstey provided a David Beckham-like moment to secure the win.

The talented midfielder fired a free-kick from just inside his own half into the danger area and all the host goalkeeper could do was get a faint touch on the ball before it hit the net.

Delighted Bash manager Barry Blankley praised his entire side for a "workmanlike performance."

He said: "Everyone dug in and battled for each other and it would be hard to pick out any individual because it was a real team performance. To come up here and get a 1-0 result against a side very similar to us was absolutely superb."

Bash will now travel to Gloucester City in the first qualifying round on September 14.
